Weekly Update - 7th January!

This Week (beginning 7th January)

Mon 7th Jan: Protest Against Gang Rape
Southall Black Sisters are organising a protest after the death of a woman in India, who was raped on a bus in Delhi. As they say on their website, 'Our girls and women have never been safe in India and things are getting from bad to worse. Indian activists are protesting against this all across India and we want to show them we are concerned and that we care. In solidarity, we have organised this event. We want Indian authorities to take women rights seriously.' 4pm, outside the Indian High Commission, WC2B 4NA.

Tuesday 8th Jan: Geeked About Art
An exhibition showcasing the work of artists and collaborators from the launch issue of GEEKED Magazine, an illustration-led quarterly magazine with an urban feminist slant on art, culture and gender. Launched on Tuesday, The Gallery at Foyles, 9.30am onwards. Open until 30th January.

Mon 14th Jan: Stand Up For Women!
Comedy night in support of Eaves, with James Mullinger as MC, and performances from Shappi Khorsandi, Isy Suttie, Shazia Mirza, Ed Petrie, Mary Bourke, Bridget Christie, Kate Smurthwaite, Holly Walsh, Max And Ivan, and Ed Aczel. The Bloomsbury Theatre, 7.30pm, £15/£12.50 for concessions.

Mon 14th Jan: Talk from Elizabeth A. Povinelli
A talk from Dr Povinelli on Life and Politics: Potentiation and Extinguishment. 6.30pm, LSE, free.

Thurs 17th Jan: Wine and Dine with Eaves
Join Eaves for an informal evening of tapas, wine and networking on Thursday 17th January 2013 in a private room at the fabulous gastro pub, the Norfolk Arms, to raise awareness of their work. 6.30pm, the Norfolk Arms, £40.

Friday 18th Jan: Sex Appeal Two: Come Again

Saturday 19th Jan: Women's Studies Without Walls
Women’s Studies Without Walls is an initiative to return Women's Studies to its rightful place - informing and encouraging women everywhere to take radical feminist action through learning and sharing skills, experience and information. WSWW is launching with a weekend gathering on the theme of ‘The Personal is Political’ at the Feminist Library.
